1. Our Commitment

UnityFreak is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our platform against WCAG 2.1 AA criteria and address any issues identified during our audits.

2. Measures Taken

We have taken the following measures to ensure the accessibility of UnityFreak:

• Semantic HTML: We use proper HTML elements (headings, landmarks, lists, buttons) to convey structure and meaning to assistive technologies.
• ARIA Attributes: Where native HTML semantics are insufficient, we use WAI-ARIA attributes to provide additional context and improve the experience for screen reader users.
• Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are reachable and operable using only a keyboard. Focus indicators are visible and follow a logical tab order.
• Screen Reader Compatibility: The platform is tested with popular screen readers including NVDA, VoiceOver, and JAWS to ensure content is announced correctly.
• Skip-to-Content Link: A skip navigation link is provided at the top of each page so keyboard users can bypass repeated navigation elements.
• Colour Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
• Responsive Design: The platform is fully responsive and works across different screen sizes, orientations, and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

3. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some parts of the platform may not be fully accessible. We are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:

• Third-Party Embedded Content: Some embedded content from third-party providers (such as YouTube videos and Stripe checkout forms) may not meet all WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We work with providers who prioritise accessibility but cannot guarantee full conformance for content outside our control.
• PDF Certificates: Automatically generated PDF certificates for course completion may have limited accessibility features. We are working on improving the structure and tagging of these documents.
• Code Playground Editors: The interactive code editors used in courses may have limited screen reader support due to the complexity of code editing interfaces. We provide alternative ways to submit code exercises where possible.

When reporting an accessibility issue, please include as much detail as possible:

• The page URL where you encountered the issue.
• A description of the problem and what you expected to happen.
• The assistive technology you were using (e.g. screen reader, magnifier, voice control).

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and will work with you to resolve the issue.

5. Enforcement

Under the UK Equality Act 2010, service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure their services are accessible to disabled people. We take this duty seriously and are committed to meeting our obligations.

If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, you have the right to escalate the matter to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). The EHRC is responsible for enforcing the Equality Act 2010 in England, Scotland, and Wales.
